Yarrow is a native Irish perennial also known as, Athair thalún. The foliage is aromatic, feather-like and grey-green. The flowers are attractive for many pollinators, especially hoverflies.

Strongly aromatic, downy perennial of pastures, roadsides and waste places throughout Ireland. From June until November this plant carries its numerous flower heads in 6-10cm flat-topped umbel-like clusters to 50cm high.  

The leaves of this plant are very beautiful . Millefolium means ‘thousand leaves’. 

Dark green and feathery.

It's a good choice for growing in cottage and wildlife garden schemes, due to its informal appearance, spreading habit and attractiveness to pollinators.  

Thrives with drought-tolerant, full-sun companions. Ideal partners include ornamental grasses, sedum, salvia, lavender, echinacea, and roses, which complement its feathery texture and flat-topped flowers. Yarrow attracts pollinators and beneficial insects, making it excellent for vegetable gardens. 

Yarrow like growing in a moist, well-drained soil in sun. It grows well in borders and wildflower meadows.
