Borage is a much loved plant by bees and other benefical insects. Growing to 60cm, the hairy flowerstems hold open, blue, star-shaped flowers. The large oval, hairy leaves form a nice base to the plant. The flowers, seen from June to September, are up to 2cm across are edible and make a great addition to salads, icecubes or added straight into summer drinks.

Borage is an annual but if given some clear space beside it, will readily seed itself for the next year.

It likes to grow in a well-drained soil in full sun.
