Greater Knapweed is a native Irish perennial, also known as Mínscoth mhór. Growing up to 100cm tall, the thistle-like flowerheads are purple on the upperside with furry green bracts underneath, flowering from June to August. A stunning, uncommon wildflowers usually seen on cliff edges, edges of meadows and loves a lime-rich soil. The flowers are loved by a variety of pollinators, especially bees and bumblebees.
